Setting up your account

How long does it take to setup a Traveling Mailbox?

Setting up a Traveling Mailbox takes only a few minutes. Once your subscription starts, you will be issued out a welcome email with your custom mailbox number and address. At this time, you may begin giving out your new address. However, we cannot process your incoming mail until we have received your completed USPS Form 1583.

Who uses a Traveling Mailbox?

Traveling Mailbox has serviced tens of thousands of customers in over 47 Countries since we started in 2011. Today, we service travelers, RVers, snowbirds, digital nomads, expats, and all types of businesses. Anyone can use a virtual mail provider!

When I signup, what address do I use for the Checkout page?

We recommend using your current address or billing address associated with your Credit Card. 

Do you provide any promotions?

Traveling Mailbox has always offered two months free on our Annual Plans. You can obtain this discount when you signup. We also provide discounts to active military and other occasionally offer other discounts. Please contact sales at 855-749-1737 to obtain the coupon codes.

What addresses and locations are available for me to use?

Traveling Mailbox has addresses throughout the United States to choose from. Most customers use our Sanford, NC Address directly but you can use any of the following listed on our Addresses Page.

Are your addresses PO Boxes or Physical Street Addresses

Traveling Mailbox only provides real physical street addresses.

What is a Premium Address?

During the signup process, you will find that some of our addresses are considered Premium. These addresses operate out of bigger cities and cost a bit more to operate thus some of these have an additional monthly fee. If you do not need a particular address in a certain location, we recommend using our Sanford, NC Address.

Do I need to complete the USPS Form 1583?

Yes. After subscribing and gaining access to your traveling mailbox, you will need to complete the USPS Form 1583. The USPS Form 1583 is needed in order to establish a private mailbox in the United States. Most people are able to complete their form the same day they signup. 

How much does your service cost?

A Traveling Mailbox is as low as $15 per month. There are no setup fees or long term contracts or cancellation fees. We even provide two months of free service if you subscribe to an annual subscription.

If I start on a monthly plan, can I switch to an annual subscription and get two months free?

Yes! You can start on a monthly plan and upgrade your account to an annual plan at any time.

Can I have more than one name or business on my account?

Yes! Each plan includes a certain amount of recipients. You can view how many recipients each plan allows for on the pricing page. A recipient is anyone that is going to be receiving mail under their name or a business name.

Can I receive mail sent by UPS and FedEx to my virtual mailbox?

Absolutely. The mailboxes we provide are real physical street addresses so you can receive mail sent from any carrier.

Can I pick up my mail instead of having you forward it to me?

Unfortunately local pickup is not available at any of our locations. This is for multiple reasons and the main one is security. However, we offer all of the UPS/FedEx/USPS options that allow us to virtually have your mail delivered to your doorstep anywhere in the world by a specific time. With a Traveling Mailbox, you have complete control over your mail at all times.

Do you offer any Fax Services?

Yes! Online Faxing is available in your Virtual Office section of your Traveling Mailbox! A Toll-Free Number is provided for receiving fax and sending faxes is Free also. Customers on Small Business or Enterprise Plans can request a custom fax number.

Do you have any mobile apps?

Yes! You can download are Apps on our Mobile App page.

Mail Scanning & Forwarding

How do you get my mail?

After subscribing to a Traveling Mailbox, you will be issued a welcome email that contains your new address. At this time, you may begin contacting senders of your mail and giving them your new address or you can issue a change of address online at Note: The USPS Form 1583 is required for us to complete the setup of your account and gives us permission to receive your mail. You will complete this form after subscribing to your account.

Do you scan the envelopes that I receive?

Yes! As your mail arrives, we will scan the front of the envelope in full color and then you tell us what to do. You can tell us to open and scan the contents, forward the envelope to you anywhere in the world, shred it for free, or even return the envelope to the sender.

Will you open my mail?

Yes but only if you tell us to. If you tell us to open and scan your mail, we will open the envelope and scan in the contents in full color.

How long does it take to scan my mail?

Once mail arrives at our processing facility, the envelopes are scanned and uploaded into your account the same day. If you request the contents to be opened and scanned, those requests are usually completed within a few hours or less. You can also use QuickScan and get the scanned contents available within minutes! QuickScans don’t add to your monthly allotment of scans.

Do I have to pay per scan?

No! Unlike other providers, your Traveling Mailbox subscription includes page scans. As long as you stay within your Plan limits, there are no additional charges.

Can you sign for mail that requires a signature?

Yes! Any mail that arrives requiring a signature, we will sign for it on your behalf.

How long does it take to forward my mail to me?

All mail forwarding requests are completed within 24 hours. Depending on what type of service you select will depend on how fast the forward mail is delivered to its destination. Overnight Shipping is available including UPS and FedEx Options.

What carriers do you use to forward my mail?

USPS, UPS, and FedEx are available including a multitude of shipping levels to provide you with several options to receive your mail in a timely yet affordable manner. You are in complete control of your mail.

How often will you forward my mail to me?

We will forward your mail as often as you request it. You can forward every day, weekly, every other day, bi-weekly, every month etc … You can also set your account with an automatic forwarding option.

Do you provide shipping discounts?

Can you mail documents for me on my behalf?

Yes! This service is now integrated into all online mailboxes. We call it Mail-A-Letter! Now you can simply submit your PDF and we can mail the documents right out for you while you keep on traveling!

What do you do with junk mail?

Your junk is someone else’s treasure! Traveling Mailbox uploads all mail that is addressed to you to your account. However, if you deem it to be junk, we will shred it for free and it does not count towards your plan limits.

Can I have my mail bundled and shipped to me all at one time?

Yes! You can ship items to you individually or in a bundle to save on shipping costs. You will select which items you want shipped directly from your virtual mailbox.

Will you hold my mail for me while I am traveling?

Yes! All mail is stored for free at our facility for up to 30 days. After 30 days, we charge $1 per envelope per month to store beyond 30 days. Note: The digital scans of your envelopes remain online in your mailbox until you delete them.

How do I know when I have new mail?

When you receive mail in your online account, you will receive an email notification. At this time, you can login to your virtual mailbox and tell us what to do!

Can the scanned contents of my mail by sent to my email?

Yes! You can edit the settings in your traveling mailbox to have the scanned contents automatically sent to your email and/or an integration. These settings can be found in the My Account -> PDF2Email Section of your Traveling Mailbox.

Does it cost extra to have my mail shredded?

No! Traveling Mailbox shreds your mail securely on site for Free!

Check Deposit Service

Is the Check Deposit Service included with my account?

Our Check Deposit Service is available with any of our subscriptions. However, we charge $4.95 for each check that you wish to deposit + Postage. (We mail your checks directly to your financial institution to be deposited).

What banks can I deposit checks to?

Traveling Mailbox supports all banks with our Check Deposit Service

How long does it take my check to be deposited?

We ship all checks from our facility within 24 hours of you submitting your deposit request. Typically, checks are deposited at your financial institution same day. Overnight shipping is available.

USPS Form 1583

What is the USPS Form 1583?

The USPS Form 1583 is required by the United States Postal Service to be completed by all of our customers in order to give us permission to receive your mail. The USPS Form 1583 does not redirect your mail or control its delivery. The form is simply to give us permission to receive your mail. After subscribing to a Traveling Mailbox, you will be able to login to your secure online mailbox to complete the USPS Form 1583. You can find the form in the section labeled USPS Forms on the left hand side of your online mailbox.

Does the USPS Form 1583 have to be notarized?

No! After completing your form in your online mailbox, you may perform a video chat with one of our team members and we can perform an E-Signature and verify your identity via a video call. If you are unable to perform this task, the form will need to be notarized and uploaded to your account. You can get this done at a local UPS Store or your local Bank. If you live outside of the US, you can get the form notarized at a US Embassy or use an online notary service if you cannot perform an E-Signature with us.

After I complete the USPS Form 1583, will my mail start coming to you?

No, the USPS Form 1583 only gives us permission to receive your mail. After completing the USPS Form 1583, please issue a change of address with the USPS or contact senders of your mail and give them your new address directly.

Can someone help with me the USPS Form 1583?

Absolutely. Traveling Mailbox has its own dedicated team ready to assist and walk you through completing the USPS Form 1583. 

How long does it take to complete the USPS Form 1583?

The USPS Form 1583 is a one page form and completing it only takes a few minutes. We offer appointments to verify your form with our team throughout the day so the form can be completed within one business day.


What payment methods are available?

We accept all major credit cards and PayPal.

Are Postage Deposits Required?

No! We will simply charge your credit card as needed when you need to forward an item to youself.

Will you bill my account automatically?

Yes! We will bill your credit card or PayPal each month to cover your subscription or on an annual basis if you subscribe to an annual plan.

What should I do before closing my account?

Please login to your mailbox at and click the Billing tab on the left to view your current subscription and cancel it. Before you do that though, We have prepared an Account closure page that provides all of the relevant information necessary in order to wind down your account with us. What is your refund policy?

Traveling Mailbox is dedicated to our customers which is one of the reasons we provide support 7 days a week. Our goal is to ensure that each and every customer is completely satisfied with our entire service. If for any reason you are not satisfied, please call us and speak with us so we can work out any issues that you may be having. If we are still unable to completely satisfy you, we will refund your subscription in its entirety.
